Autumn Events (August - December 2010)

  • Aug 28 (Sat) --  Goethe's annual birthday celebration.  Theme:  Goethe in Weimar.  Location:  Cafe Mozart, 12:30 pm.  RSVP to constantinejoyce@yahoo.com if you plan to attend.
  • Sep 15 (Wed) -- Dramatic Reading & Discussion.  Arthur Schnitzler's Liebelei, Tysons-Pimmit Regional Library, 6 - 8 pm.  Social hour to follow at Ledo Pizza (click for a coupon link).  For more information on Schnitzler and his work visit the Drama page.
  • Sept 25 (Sat) -- Lunch mit Dichtung.  Theme:  Poems Schumann set to music.  Location:  Old Europe.  12:30 pm.  RSVP to constantinejoyce@yahoo.com if you plan to attend.
  • Oct 20 (Wed) -- Dramatic Reading & Discussion.  Arthur Schnitzler's Liebelei, Tysons-Pimmit Regional Library, 6 - 8 pm.  Social hour to follow at Ledo Pizza (click for a coupon link). 
  • Oct 23 (Sat) --  Schumannfest!  "'Du, meine Seele,' The Vocal Music of Robert Schumann" a special lecture with demonstrations by Dr. Stan Engebretson, Professor of Music, George Mason University, Fairfax, VA, in honor of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Robert Schumann.  For details, click here for the Schumannfest page.  Location:  Goethe-Institut.  9:30 am.

  • Nov 4 (Thur) -- illustrated lecture, "Cultural Transformations:  Berlin in the 20th Century" by Marion Deshmukh, Professor of History & Art History, George Mason University, 6:45 pm, Goethe-Institut.  Refreshments to follow.
  • Nov 17 (Wed) --  Dramatic Reading & Discussion.  Arthur Schnitzler's Liebelei, Tysons-Pimmit Regional Library, 6 - 8 pm.  Social hour to follow at Ledo Pizza (click for a coupon link). 
  • Nov 20 (Sat) --  Lunch mit Dichtung.  Theme:  German prose or poetry in dialect II.  Location:  Cafe Berlin.  12:30 pm.
  • Dec 4 (Sat) --  Lunch mit Dichtung -- mit Glühwein!  Theme:  holiday prose or poetry.  Location:  Old Europe.  12:30 pm.
